 Music scores inspired grid

This project emerged from the “Notation Lab,” a seminar led by Bernd Grether, artistic assistant in the Visual Systems class at the Universität der Künste Berlin (UdK), and was enriched by interdisciplinary workshops with Marc Sabat’s Experimental Music Orchestra, fostering an exchange between visual design and experimental sound.

Poster series proposal for the UdK Berlin Symphony Orchestra | 2019

For the poster series, a grid was used referring to the line system of music scores. This is created by adding vertical lines to the usual horizontal lines.

The construction of the grid serves as a playing surface where sounds and rhythmic signs are created.

In this way, the name and the symphony number can always be generated anew and a new motif can also be created.
